Pandas don't breed that well in captivity. I think the conventional wisdom is they are a bit unhappy, understandably, and don't feel like screwing.

What if the pandas are thinking "We can't possibly have cubs, this cage is barely big enough for us". Are we sure this sophistication is beyond pandas, and if so why aren't the slums of Asia crawling with panda cubs?
